I step out of the Tahoe at the gas station, turn around, and just start laughing. In front of me stands one the greatest, most creative works I have seen in a long time. The sheer ingenuity and simpleness of it immediately hits me, as well as bringing humor and art to a piece of equipment that normally just serves a utilitarian purpose - a trailer.
No, not just any trailer folks, but a trailer designed and built by Steve Helmers of Steeleville, IL. Riding proudly behind Helmers and his wife Marla is a huge aluminum trailer built to resemble one of the biggest cans of Budweiser you have ever seen. As I had grabbed my camera and was happily snapping away, I heard a voice say from behind me, “That will cost you!” I turned around and just had to shake the hand of the man whom I assumed had built such a wonderful creation. “This is so great!” I exclaimed, “Did you build this?” Steve replied that he had, and even though I thought it was made of steel, Steve confirms that it is all aluminum; the only thing made of steel was the frame of the tiny trailer.
As I get closer, Steve then points out the writing on the “can”. As I read, I just start laughing more - I love this guy! I don’t drink beer, but I fully appreciate how many beer drinkers there are out in the world that are just going to love this - it HAD to be posted and deserved a blog post of its own!
Congrats Steve & Marla, hope you guys had a fantastic trip (which I’m sure from Illinois to Utah and back on a motorcycle WAS one HELL of a trip!) and I wish you all the best - you get a huge A+, thumbs up, tip of the hat, toast of the drink, toke of the joint salute from me, that’s for sure!
Instead of "lager" it is "larger" beer, haha! And just look @ the ozs. - I know some people who can actually put that much away in a weekend ;)
If you can't read it, it says, "It is said that the best things in life are free, but money can buy some really neat shit!"
