Hence the problem. Apparently others don’t share my love of directness. Many of you seem to be taken aback by my style of communication, finding it too aggressive or assertive (read, bitchy) for your tastes. The ones frightened by my direct behavior are the ones I find the most humorous, as some of you tend to get inexplicably fearful when I have the nerve to stand up for my rights and speak my mind. Maybe you wish YOU had the nerve, but like a good little lemming you prefer not to make waves and just follow the others off the cliff to their (and your) silent death.
Staying silent about ANYTHING is wrong. In my opinion silence is what is wrong with the current state of our world, our country, ourselves. When we stay silent, nothing changes. Everything remains the same. We keep having the same old wars, the same old butthead for President, the same conflicts with each other because we think for some assinine reason that by staying silent we are being "nice" or "polite". We don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Kill them in a war, sure, but God forbid we should hurt their feelings by being anything short of diplomatic.
This is not the natural state of the Universe, of nature. Nature is constantly changing, every second. Humans for some reason seem to prefer to be stuck in their respective ruts, their routines, however good or bad for them. People who speak up, make waves, are quickly silenced. I for one refuse to be silenced. I’d rather soar with the eagles any day than squat with the turkeys.
So am I in a minority? Certainly. Do I have a large circle of friends? No. Enemies? Most likely. Will I always stand up for myself, my children, animals, and others who have no voice? You bet your ass. Who doesn’t love a good underdog story? Evidently a lot of you. Have you really become so tainted, so jaded, that you no longer believe in the power of your own voice? Fuck tact and diplomacy I say! Out with it, out with it, out with it all!!
I know I’ve posted it here before, but for those of you unfortunate enough to have not read every single one of my blogs from the beginning, I’ll leave you once more with my favorite quote of all time from Marianne Williamson:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?” Actually who are you NOT to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
May the Force be with you all.
