"How long do you wanna be loved? Is forever enough?" - Dixie Chicks
How many of you out there have spent hours, days, weeks, months and years watching endless TV and movies, and STILL after all that time have a yearning, however slight, for your life, just once, to end up like it does in Hollywood? The ole Happily Ever After? Yeah, me neither. I'm quite sick of it really, having it shoved down my throat every time I go to the theatre or turn on the idiot box. I mean, let's face it ladies. The guy with ebony hair and green eyes with the great career who makes a zillion dollars so you never have to work AND has 6-pack abs, a tan and great teeth while driving his Boxster in his boxers just is never going to happen; can you feel me here? So why does Hollywood insist on insulting our intelligence by perpetuating this myth? Oh yeah, I forgot; it's called entertainment. An ESCAPE from all our lives are not. And this makes us feel better, entertained.............how?
I don't know about you, but I find it sad that this is the reality that so many live in today. Always trying 2B like what we see in the media instead of who they were meant 2B. Never realizing their true potential because they've been blinded all their lives by a false hope that we've been bombarded by 24/7 virtually since we've come out of the womb. Women and more specifically, girls, have been led to believe that we can be thin, beautiful, rich, supermodels with acting and singing careers with the great guy who will love us forever while we live in our mansions with our designer clothes and never have to lift a finger to do any housework or take care of our kids. WAKE UP LADIES!!!! It ain't happening, OK? You're lambs being led to the slaughter by men who WANT us 2B zombies, men who WANT us 2B stupid enough to believe everything they tell us and show us in magazines, TV, and the movies because they know if we got a clue and bought a vowel we would fucking TAKE OVER this world and believe you me, it would DEFINITELY be for the better. And, worse yet, now they have begun to recruit our own kind and we now have OTHER WOMEN hateratering on our asses that we have to contend with. Therefore ladies, it is our trained and civic duty as mothers to not let our girls grow up 2B anything other than who THEY were meant 2B, not what some man thinks they SHOULD be. We need to teach all future generations to love themselves, for no one can ever find true happiness that didn't first have love of self and confidence from within first. The empty well that so many of us possess in our souls today cannot be filled from fantasy, from some outside source, from shopping or TV or movies or magazines. It doesn't exist apart from us, therefore it must come from us.
My favorite quote in the world comes from Nelson Mandela, who said: "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'who am I 2B brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?' Actually, who are we NOT 2B? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around. We were born to manifest the glory of God within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
So listen. There is no forever, no happily ever after, no one ever gets the guy or the girl in real life. At least, not the one we've fantasized about all these years, but if we're lucky enough we end up with someone who really exists who takes out the trash and fixes everything and is stellar in bed even if he doesn't have those 6-pack abs but he still keeps working on them just for you. And yes, we all get fat and old and wrinkly in the end too, I'm not going to lie about that either. Just be who you are or start being who you were meant 2B, that's all I'm saying. Because the fact of the matter is that nothing is for certain except nothingness and all that is is exactly the way it is supposed 2B all the time. Therefore life is always perfect each and every moment, right up until the screen fades to black.
Who needs Hollywood?
